Privacy Policy

Last updated:

At HSY Labs we respect your privacy and handle personal data responsibly and transparently. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it and what rights you have.

It applies to the website hsylabs.com (the “Website”) and, as a general reference, to the apps, browser extensions and digital products we publish on platforms such as Google Play, the App Store and the Chrome Web Store (the “Apps”). An App may have its own privacy notice; where one exists, it complements this policy and prevails over it for that App.

01Data controller

The controller of your personal data is HSY Labs. Our identifying details are available in our Legal notice. For any privacy-related matter, you can contact us at legal@hsylabs.com.

02Data we collect

We only collect the data we need. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Data you send us. When you write to us, we process your name, your email address and any information you include in your message.
  • Technical data from the Website. Like any website, our hosting provider may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of access, in order to deliver the Website and keep it secure.
  • Preferences. The Website stores your language and theme preferences on your own device. This information is not sent to us. See our Cookie Policy.
  • App data. Depending on its features, an App may process the content you create in it, technical information about your device and the App (such as operating system, version, crash reports and diagnostics) and, only if you grant the corresponding permission, data such as your location, photos or notifications.
  • Purchases and subscriptions. Payments in our Apps are processed by the relevant platform, such as Google Play or the App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details; we may receive confirmation of the purchase and its status so that we can provide what you have bought.

The store listing of each App describes the data it collects and how it is used — for example, the Data safety section on Google Play, the App Privacy details on the App Store and the privacy practices on the Chrome Web Store.

To understand how the Website is used and how fast it loads, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which gives us aggregated statistics such as the pages viewed, the referring website, the country, the browser, the type of device and load times. It does not use cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not identify you or track you across other websites. The Website does not use advertising or tracking tools.

03Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:

  • To answer your enquiries and provide support, based on our legitimate interest in responding to you or, where applicable, on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To provide and improve our services and Apps, including their features, purchases and subscriptions, based on the performance of a contract with you.
  • To keep the Website and the Apps secure and working properly, detect errors and prevent abuse, based on our legitimate interest.
  • To measure how the Website is used and how it performs, through aggregated statistics that do not identify you, based on our legitimate interest in improving it.
  • To send you communications you have requested, based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To comply with legal obligations, such as tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you.

04Browser extensions

Our browser extensions request only the permissions needed for their stated purpose. The data they access is used solely to provide or improve that purpose, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not sell this data, we do not transfer it for personalized advertising and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

05Who we share data with

We do not share your personal data with third parties except where necessary:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf, such as hosting, email, cloud infrastructure, crash reporting or customer support providers, under contracts that require them to protect your data and to use it only in accordance with our instructions.
  • Distribution platforms, such as Google, Apple or Microsoft, when you download, buy or use an App through their stores. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies.
  • Public authorities, when required by law or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

If an App integrates third-party services — for example, for sign-in, analytics, advertising or payments — this is disclosed in its store listing and, where required, in the App itself.

06International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. In those cases we make sure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

07How long we keep data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected:

  • messages and enquiries: for as long as needed to handle them and follow up, and afterwards for the periods required by law;
  • technical logs: for the limited period needed for security and troubleshooting;
  • App data: for as long as you use the App or keep your account, unless you delete it earlier or the law requires otherwise;
  • data stored only on your device: until you delete it, clear the App data or uninstall the App.

08Your rights

Depending on the applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request the erasure of your data;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

To exercise these rights, write to legal@hsylabs.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and we will reply within the time limits set by law.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority of your country of residence or work, or of the place of the alleged infringement.

If you live in other jurisdictions, such as California (United States) or Brazil, you may have similar rights under local laws such as the CCPA or the LGPD. You can exercise them using the same contact address, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

09Children

The Website is not directed at children. Unless an App states otherwise, our Apps are not intended for children under 16, or under the minimum age set by the law of your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10Security

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss or alteration, such as encryption in transit, access controls and the principle of least privilege. No system is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or in the law. We will publish the new version on this page with its date of last update and, if the changes are significant, we will let you know through appropriate means.

12Contact

For any question about this policy or about your personal data, write to legal@hsylabs.com.
